Assistant Production Manager

Nobis Agri Science is seeking a dedicated, hard-working, full-time individual who is concerned about our business, the quality of the products it manufactures and the safety of our employees. The candidate will be required to conduct all tasks in a manner consistent with the company’s Corporate Values of Customer Focused, Professional, Progressive, and Committed.

The selected candidate will start work as a management trainee for the first 180 days.  Once completed, will be moved to the position of Assistant Production Facility Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Experience in Manufacturing Operations and Logistics
  • Excellent Computer Skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proven project management experience and coordination of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Focus on accuracy and details
  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling, pounding with hammer and work in confined spaces.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree
  • Experience with Feed Mixing Rations
  • Mechanical ability and interest in machinery a plus
  • Experience with quality control
  • Class A CDL

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in overseeing processing operations area, including processing plant, maintenance, and warehouses.
  • Ensure Company standard operating procedures are properly being followed.
  • Monitor and assist in the daily/routine activities for the Production Team from the floor.
  • Help manage all inventory processes, elimination of waste and proper flow and rotation in all processing areas.
  • Accountable for daily production and delivery schedule and overseeing the production staff when Production Facility Manager is offsite.
  • Assist in the receiving of ingredients and check the quality of the product to ensure it meets company standards.
  • Oversee and conduct daily audits/reviews of processing facilities independently and in conjunction with Production & Logistics Manager to ensure that efficiency, quality, safety, and productivity meet Company and customer standards and expectations. Maintain and manage quality to make sure meets FDA guidelines.
  • Execute and assist the Company’s regulatory compliance programs.
  • Communicate with customers to address needs, priorities, questions and complaints and respond effectively.
  • Participate in cross-training of self and other employees.
  • Be an involved/engaged member of the team and be willing to act and think independently
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a physical job that includes both indoor and outdoor work in all types of weather and temperature environments. This job may include working at heights and in confined spaces. It may be noisy and dusty at times.

WORK HOURS:

Current production department schedule is 3:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. NAS is considering extending the production department schedule to 16 hours total. Possibly a 3:30am to 6:30pm. The Assistant Production Plant Manager would likely be assigned to a possible 9:30am to 6:30pm time period.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This job can be physically strenuous (demanding) from time to time. You will be expected to be able to work in tight and confined spaces, walk, climb, bend, kneel, lift, grip, grasp, push and pull various tools and equipment. This job may require the ability to ride a belt man lift and occasionally work at significant heights, with requisite balance and equilibrium. You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more. This job will require the ability to ascend/descend ladders.

You will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including hardhats, gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, and respiratory protection and ear protection as appropriate.

This job requires the ability to read and comprehend written and oral operational and safety instructions and related rules, policies and memos, and to communicate clearly with your co-workers and supervisors.

It is important to have vision that permits close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. If you are grading grain, the ability to identify and distinguish colors is also important.
